Head Gives Children A Treat On His Last Day
There were ice creams all round for children at Glebe School, Girton, yesterday when headmaster Mr Brian Foot retired.
For Mr Foot, aged 64, it was the last day of 33 years as headmaster of the school and to mark the occasion he bought ice creams and allowed the children to break up for the holidays an hour early.
The youngsters presnted Mr Foot with a book of their work.
Earlier, the Parent/Teacher Association had presented both him and his wife, Gladys, who is leaving after 20 years as school secretary, with a cheque for £500.
A representative on the county Education Committee for 25 years, Mr Foot said he still had a year to run on the committee and would not therefore, be losing touch.
Mr Foot's successor will be Mr Michael Madden.
